VERY LARGE c1870s KEROSENE RAILROAD LANTERN c 1870s GILLET - FOREST RAILROAD LANTERN I believe it is a signal, caboose, or engine lantern as it has a place inside that is spring loaded to add and remove different lenses see pic 3 There are also 3 window ports that the glass can easily be replace by just slipping in different glass. The lantern is made of steel, iron, brass copper and glass All the glass is there and not broken or cracked. The weight is around 15lbs & 20 1/2 inches tall & 7 1/4" x 8 3/4" wide Lantern has a carrying handle and a permanent bracket for mounting, there are also the remains of a leather strap handle that was cut off years ago.
