Antique handmade sheet iron tin coffee pot with it's original hinged lid and retaining it's original old natural darkened dry surface, as found . New England , probably Maine , 1870's. Guaranteed old and original; this is not a fake or reproduction. Actual weight 2 lbs. 11" tall by 7 1/2" base diameter. Handmade cut, bent and soldered sheet iron tin to form a coffee pot with it's original hinged lid and retaining is original old natural darkened dry surface, as found. This is very attractive classic form New England coffeepot. Although called a coffeepot, these were used for hot water for tea and anything else as well. This coffeepot was probably made in the Westbrook, Maine area then called Steven's Plains w Maine 's tinsmiths and pewter makers were centered. From this village, coffeepots such as this were made and peddled all over New England including the coast of Maine w Friendship is. A peddler's wagon would come to the farm with these coffee pots for sale or barter. This one is a Civil War era coffee pot with fine classic form, classic tinsmith construction, great untouched original condition and splendid original surface. It appears to have been used as the principal coffee pot in this estate for the last quarter of the 19th Century. Very good as found condition.
