This is a LARGE and very attractive classic form camp style New England coffeepot. Although called a coffeepot, these large pots were used for hot water. They are classic Maine kitchen wood stove top back side burner icons. The cook always needs a little hot water and is was ready to go. It also can go out to the barn with its hot water "NOW" too. All old farms used hot water "NOW". This coffeepot was probably made in the Westbrook, Maine area then called Steven's Plains w Maine's tinsmiths and pewter makers were centered. From this village, coffeepots such as this were made and peddled all over New England including the coast of Maine w Friendship is. A peddler's wagon would come to the farm with these coffee pots for sale or barter. The courteous use by this farm family has preserved the condition of this pot although it was used daily for the whole last quarter of the 19th Century. Very good as found condition.
