You are bidding on a awesome quilt that I acquired from a Ludington estate sale in Michigan. The lady was over 90 years old when she passed away last year. This was made during the 1870's by an obvious artist of her time. The seamstress must have been a master of her time. The has phenomenal details and unique designs. The quilt has a marvelous pinwheel medallion design. THIS IS A STUNNING MAGNIFICENT ONE OF KIND PIECE OF ART! The pinwheel wheels crazy design with no pattern to the color selection or layout. Every inch of this gem is hand sewn as you can see from the pictures. T are velvets, cottons, brocades, wools, and barkcloth pieces. The medalion centers are uniformly all different colors and sizes of velvet. All of the diamond shaped pieces sewn together with the pinwheels are velvet and the edges w the pinwheels are all meticuluously hand-sewn. T are several different colors of threading and what a unique artist created and sewn design. The threading is different on every section. The pinwheels are not perfect in their geometric size and that makes this a This is truely a one of a kind crazy patterned quilt! The pinwheels are roughly 14" diameter with a total of 30 pinwheels. This took a long time to make with countless hours of hand sewing. This measures a total of 78" by 64". This appears to have been stored in a cedar chest for decades and never used. I can't find any staining, bleaching or signs of any wear. I can only find one small less than a 1/4 hole in one of the pinwheels. This can easily be repaired but I will leave that to the new owner. The under side of this piece is brocade fabric with a beautiful tea roses design hand stitched in rectangular sections. This is an absolutely spectular find! Don't pass this one up!
