With 100s of profuse illustrations of astronomical instruments and folding plates of spectra. With two color plates of flares from the sun. With numerous diagrams of the sun and with a description of the solar eclipse of 1868. Also, it has diagrams of stars, nebula, comets, planets etc. With several portraits of scientists and astronomers. Complete with all leavers and plates. (see all 12 pictures) In good condition bound in 19th century library mottled boards and spine. The pages and plates are in VG condition except several leaves in the appendix have chips in the borders but not into the print and one chart of the sun's flares has a small chip in the border and one fold is partly separated. This is a legal discard from the Cincinnati Public Library. I had one of the heads of the "Friends of the Library" connected to the rare book department sign a statement that it's a legal discard which is included in the sale.
