Up for bid is an original 1875 Atlas of Fayette County, Ohio. Atlas is by L.H. Everts & Co. of Philadelphia. I own several of these Ohio county Atlases and this is one of the most detailed. This volume contains an absolute wealth of information, much of which can not be found elsewhere. It is laid out in three parts. The first and largest is of Fayette County and contains 78 pages. Those pages include maps by township, 10 Village plats, "Lithographic Views" 17 of Washington C.H., 3 of Paint Twp, 4 of Madison, 16 of Wayne, 19 of Jefferson, 10 of Perry, 4 of Jasper, 8 of Union, and 6 of Concord. Page 13 contains personal sketches (histories). They include: Joseph Hidy, Comissioner E.L. Ford, Squire Rankin, Dr. William H. Jones, and John F. Gregg. There is also a History of the Carder Infirmary and a biography of Peter Carder. Part 2 is 30 pages long and is an "Atlas of Ohio, by Counties, Colored by Townships and Sectioned". Part 3 is 53 pages and is a "General Atlas of the World". This atlas is an original and has been professionally rebound. All pages are present. Some pages are taped along the edge but I would rate the atlas as overall in very good restored condition. Due to the rare nature of the material and the fact that any copies made would have value, I am not offering a return policy on this item.
