1876 S TRADE DOLLAR! Rare Early Coin! BETTER DATE, Loweer Grade LOVELY COIN - GREAT VALUE I try to provide coins at every level and for every budget! This Trade Dollar is obviously well circulated and appears to have been exposed to corrosion of some type as evidenced by the rough appearance on the obverse. The reverse appeares to have been spared. However the elements of the design are all still present and sufficient to determine that this particular coin has Obverse Type 1 and Reverse Type 2. There were some small modifications made to both sides of this coin phased in over several years. There is a little discoloration but overall it has a nice silver appearance and surprisingly good eye appeal. Even though it is worn and has probably been cleaned at some time in its life, it is still a Trade Dollar. All Trade Dollars are relatively uncommon and commannd a premium. The coin was only minted for 5 years for all practical purposes and by far the most common mintage is the 1877S. So even though this is a damaged coin it is also a rare coin (& a semi-key date!) that still looks pretty good and may be the only opportunity for a collector to own a rarity that would otherwise be prohibitively expensive.
