This map and etchings are from a very scarce and important part of history.It is from an atlas printed in 1877 compiled and drawn by E.L.Hayes for the Titus Simmons & Titus publishers.The format of the book covers the Upper Ohio river and valley from Pittsburgh Pa. to Cincinnati Ohio.It is NOT a copy but is the real thing.It was printed by H.J.Toudy & Co.,Phila.Pa.engraved by Worley and Bracher.The book was damaged over the years and in the 1937 flood in Ripley Ohio but survived without water damage to the majority of the inside pages.Most all pages are worn and ragged on the edges,some tears and are somewhat brittle and tan with age but,most are complete in color and print.All color is hand painted.This particlar map is Part 13 and 214 to 237 Miles below Pittsburgh or 230 to 253 Miles above Cincinnati.There are 3 close-up maps of Letartsville,Meigs Co,Ohio plus Letart,Mason Co. and Ravenswood,Jackson Co,W.Va.It shows the Little Sand and the Sand River along with the Big and Little Mill creeks as they enter the Ohio River.Names and locations of people and businesses,Churches and landings all along this 23 miles of river banks.Islands in the river are Buffington,Sand Creek,Tow Head,Goose and the two Letards.On the reverse are 4 great etchings,Two are businesses in Wheeling W.Va.and the other two are residences of property owners of
