ANTIQUE 1878 VICTORIAN ROYAL WORCESTER # B 43 AESTHETIC JAPAN STYLE SPRAYS LARGE CUP AND SAUCER SET ~ MARK 1 WITH 1878 LETTER "N" YEAR CYPHER ~ ~ WONDERFUL CONDITION ~ ~ NO RESERVE ~ Welcome to the month of January, and the 2007 New Year. Being offered for your consideration, with NO RESERVE , is this wonderful Antique 1878 Royal Worcester #B 43 Aesthetic Japan Style Sprays Large Cup and Saucer Set. The Worcester Porcelain Manufactory was established in the Staffordshire town of Worcester in 1751. In 1862, during the reign of Queen Victoria, the Worcester Royal Porcelain Company was formed. This particular Victorian cup and saucer set carries the black imprinted Mark 1 backstamp first used by Royal Worcester in 1867. The "N" underneath the backstamp dates the set to 1878. The saucer carries an imprinted English Registry mark which is difficult to decipher as it is partially hidden by the imprinted backstamp; the cup base is too small to carry an imprinted registry mark. The pattern number is B 43; the motif features a collage of Aesthetic style Japanese sprays of circles, squares, pentagons, and garden foliage. The delicate leaves and shapes are further enhanced by Japanese fans imprinted with the likeness of Bamboo shoots. This two piece set is quite large in size. The saucer measures 6 ½" in width; the cup stands 3 3/8" in height
