THIS IS A VERY NICE COIN WELL STRUCK WITH GREAT DETAIL AND NEARLY NO BAG MARKS AND STRONG SHARP EDGES. AS OF 6/13/2015 NGC PALACES VALUE ON THIS COIN FROM $50 (mint state 60) to $875 (mint state 65) "The Philadelphia Mint was noted for its desire to obtain as many coins as possible per working die pair. There fore, there is considerable variation in high point definition among uncirculated specimens of the 1879-P such as, the hair over Liberties ear, and the eagles breast feathers. Luster is usually adequate; the main deterrent to locating a gem is usually bag marks, which are rather heavy on most pieces."
