You are bidding on an antique Ocarina made by the Austrian company Fiehn which had the patent on this item. The ocarina is made of pottery or composite and is very heavy. It has the maker's mark and an additional mark like a double seal which reads Exposition and the last letters of (Sid)ney. This item was sold at the International Exposition in Sydney in1879 w European manufacturers exhibited their novelties. The clay is painted black with bronze powder numbers painted on the flute. T is also an incised A and the number 7 1/2 at the base. The ocarina is in good condtion and does not appear to have any damage apart from the wear of the paint. This is an interesting item and conversation piece. Length about 7" , height about 4".
