Robinson .( Documentation will be provided the winner of the auction indicating the date of publication,author and magazine name.SEE FOOTNOTE) This highly informative, 8 page, nicely illustrated magazine article puts the incomparable Vermont storyteller Rowland E. Robinson on display in this delightful anecdotal account of how wild bee hives were tracked down in Vermont in the mid-1800s. Robinson does an absolutely wonderful job explaining the different techniques for discovering wild beehives and then details the methods for plundering these delicious hideaways of their succulent honey. Accompanying the wonderful narrative are some excellent illustrations by Daniel Beard and Mary Hallock Foote. One of the most interesting sections of the article describes a technique known as "Boxing a Bee" wby the bee-hunter captures a bee in a box and by various subtleties tricks the bee into revealing the nearby bee-hive. T's also some very humorous descriptions of Vermont Yankee's cutting down trees to their peril in search of honey.
