Fine raised dots throughout hair and face plus raised dots around motto letters, right and left stars and date digits due to rusted die. Reverse C3c– I O mint mark doubled on right and left side of top surface. COMMENTS: 1- VAM-7 is an interesting R-5 variety of the date that is overshadowed by its peers selected for the Top-100 list. 2- The obverse die is extensively rusted with fine pitting throughout the bust of Liberty. 3- The legend has larger pits all over it, notably on the date and around the first three stars on the right. 4- The mint mark is doubled (O/O) and is set slightly high. Not mentioned in the VAM is that the reverse legend letters are distinctly doubled.Type: Morgan Silver Dollar Year: 1880 Mint Mark: O Face Value: 1.00 USD Total Produced: 5,305,000 Silver Content: 90% Silver Weight: 0.7735 oz.
