This book is a leather bound 3rd edition of Mrs Beeton's "Book of Household Management". There is no year of printing present as unfortunately the title page is missing and no longer present, but this is definitely the 3rd edition printed in 1880. The spine, hinge strips and corners consist of leather, and the rest is bound in red cloth. The spine has gilt decoration and lettering, and the page fore edges are in a marble effect design. It contains many colour plates and black and white line drawings/engravings, and is vastly illustrated throughout. Containing over 1600 pages, with dimensions to the book of 8" x 5.5" x 3" thick, and it weighs 1.3kg unpacked. The condition is fair, despite a few significant blemishes, with the worst case being the prelims, title page, and first two pages are missing, with it beginning on page 3. Also there are 58 pages to the centre of the book which are detached but still present (pages 599-657), but otherwise the text block is firm and secure with no further missing or detached pages or plates. The contents are generally clean and bright throughout, with only occasional trivial marking here and there, but nothing significant.
