Antique SMALL handmade... round steam bent hardwood, circular pine bottom, wooden pegs, steel tacks and faint stamped Wilton, N.H. maker's mark on interior bottom... dry measure... with it's original old green paint over an earlier old red paint painted surface and retaining it's original old dry surface, as found. Wilton , N.H. , 1880's possibly earlier. Guaranteed old and original; this is not a fake or reproduction. Actual weight 1 lbs. 3 1/2" tall by 5 3/4" diameter at the outer top edge. This is one of three measures we are listing today that we found in one barn. The three were once part of a complete set. These three are all we found. Each measure is stamp marked in the interior bottom by a Wilton , N.H. maker whose name is not legible. Each measure has the same blue-green paint on the outside over an earlier old red paint. Each measure is in old original as found in the barn condition retaining the old natural surface. This measure is the smallest and most abrasively used. The exterior green paint is age toned darkened and worn away to the old red beneath it evenly over the whole exterior. The interior is an equally age toned and darkened natural surface. This measure was evidently used as a grain scoop for a long time and has extensive wear with wood loss along the whole top rim of the measure from ACTUALLY... "scraping the bottom of the (grain) barrel" for decades. Although the edge appears ragged, the amount of loss is minimal for it still has full original height at the nailed joint. Further, this wear if truly authentic, old, worn smooth and comes from actual usage. Tfore it does not detract from the soul of the measure for it is part of it's true original condition. Very good as found condition. This one was truly used daily for a long time and has a great old surface. Again noting that the attractive upper edge wear, old paint wear, age toning and soiling on this measure is from actual use and are considered as positive enhancements, the measure is in fine condition. Right out of the barn, it has appropriate surface oxidation and soiling for it's age and from it's old farm residence. Please see photographs. As found this past March in an estate in Black Point , Maine . Seeking things fresh found in attics? Please see our other listings from this estate. This was in the barn. We have done nothing to it at all; it is just as we found it. It looks like good one to us! We offer this fine wooden dry measure in original old paint for $4.99 NR..
