This a rare antique store display coffee grinder from the 1880's made by Arcade with advertising for Old Time coffee manufactured and packed by John Hoffmann and Sons of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It stands 13 1/2" tall by 8" wide and 4 3/4" deep. The piece is remarkable good condition for its age with no missing parts. It is meant to be hung on the wall or fastened to the edge of a counter. I believe when full it will grind one pound of coffee at a time. The lid on top is in good condition and is made of tin. The cup that is located on the bottom is also made of tin with a nice wooden black handle. The cup sits tight underneath the grinder held in place by two screw heads. The advertising is made of tin and reads from top to bottom, " One Pound Net Weight Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. Old Time Brand Blended Roasted Coffee Roasted and Packed By John Hoffmann & Sons Milwaukee, Wis." The face plate behind the tin advertising is made of cast iron which is a solid piece down including the legs. The legs fasten to the wooden base with two screws and have a nice artistic design. The wooden sectrion is well made using dovetails. The handle is the only piece that had damage when I bought this grinder. It had been broken near the base w it screws onto the grinder shaft. The handle can be taken off by unscrewing the nut that holds it into place. I took a picture to show this weld. The grinder itself is in very good working order and moves nicely. The only cleaning I have done to the piece is light warm water to get the dirt off. I leave the actual restoration or cleaning up to the winning bidder. I bought this at an estate sale at three generation farm in the country near Wycoff, Minnesota. They had it out on a hayrack along with many older farm tools. What a great piece to put into a collection. If anyone has seen one like this tell me more I am very interested in the actual history. Please ask questions if you have any on this item and please let me know if anything is wrong in my listing. I will update with the correct information. I accept payment thru Paypal, check, and money order with the item held till check clears the bank. Good luck bidding and have a great day.
