This is a wonderful picture from Ireland taken in the 1880’s. Back in old times in Ireland, before dance halls were built, people would meet on old country roads to dance. This is what is happening in this picture. It is a funny picture as you can see the young boys on the right hand side while the young girls are all the way on the left, both groups probably too nervous to go near the other! In the middle of the picture all the older men and women are socialising. In the left background, a violin player can be seen. This is a lovely snap-shot of old Ireland! Measures 16.5" X 12" approx.
