Up for auction is an exquisite, Victorian, Silver Plated, Celery Vase made by the James Tufts Company of Boston, Massachusetts. This gorgeous piece measures 4.50 inches wide at its widest point and 9.50 inches high. The detail on the design is magnificent, intricate and flawless all of which James Tufts is noted for. The silver plated bottom of the vase shows two tusked elephants whose trunks connect to the stem on the base. The two side open pierced handles are intricately designed with what looks like two banners of scroll work and a tassel on the bottom. The top rim is embossed with tiny flowers and a raised flower has been applied in the middle of the front and back of the rim. A lovely Bristol Vase fits into the vase and adds added depth and beauty to this gorgeous piece. The Bristol vase has been hand enameled with pretty rose and blue colored flowers growing from hand painted leafy stems. Gold highlights have been hand painted on the back and front of this Victorian piece adding continued depth and beauty. A top and bottom rim, painted in the prettiest of blue completes this vase. A very elegant look and a very hard to find Victorian piece made by James Tufts, circa: 1875 - 1880. The company only produced quality pieces for a 30 year period. It bears the James W. Tufts Quadruple Plate mark, with a Star and a T in the center. The piece is also inscribed with the inscriptions, âeoeBoston, Warranted and the numbers 1018.âe The piece is in EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO CRACKS, CHIPS OR REPAIRS. The base of the vase, has some wear and t is slight gold loss to the Bristol vase rims. These age imperfections do not mar the beauty of this extraordinary piece. It was purchased from a Worcester, Massachusetts estate and had been in the family since the piece was manufactured. A rare and wonderful find for the collector or placed on a table to add elegance and Victorian charm and grace to the room.
