The corners are exposed, the rear joint opened but hinge still holding. Spine cover beginning to detach open, with some extremity damage. Hinge in front firm. Page edges also gilt. Illustrated w/ numerous plates, some by noted engraver Thomas Nast, also with illustrated map. Interior lightly foxed; family pages at the rear with extensive records for the McClatchey/ Taliaferro family of Virginia, Mississippi and Alabama, starting with Confederate Lieutenant John Hamilton McClatchey (b1827).
