Up for auction is an antique cigarettes box made in 1881. The stamp is from the series of 1883. This box was made by Goodwin & Co. Reads "Dogs Head Cigarettes". The box is in great condition, on the bottom front of the box there appears to be something stuck to it, and there is very miniscule wear and creasing from age and use. Please see all pictures for best description, and ask ANY questions that you may have. Back of the slider reads Cigarette Box, Patented March 29, 1881 Whiting Box Co. 463 Greenwich St. New York. It is slightly dirty on the back and stamp (foxing and from sitting) from age, but nothing to hurt the value of this extremely rare box. The back of the box has a blue green tax stamp, for 10 cents. It reads Series of 1883 Cigarettes U.S. Inter. Rev. Act of March and the rest is worn off from age. It measures just short of 1.75" across x just under 3" from top to bottom.
