1882-O $10 MS61 NGC. Variety 1. The 1882-O Liberty eagle is an underrated issue from a small mintage of 10,820 pieces, with a single variety known for the date. Doug Winter estimates a surviving population of 200-250 examples in all grades, with seven or eight specimens in Mint State. The present well-struck piece displays prooflike greenish-gold surfaces. Despite the scattering of minor abrasions seen on both sides, this coin is among the finest survivors of this scarce issue. Census: 5 in 61, 1 finer (2/11). Grade: 61, Service: NGC, Service No.: 8697, Issue Date: 1882-O, Mint Mark: O, Denomination: $10
