You are viewing a Super Nice 1882 Shield Nickel There is a lot going on here... Extremely deeply struck on Both Faces! On the Obverse the Legend of "In God We Trust" is strongly doubled. The date is clearly Repunched with extra metal sticking "8's" and to the top and the right of the 2. The Shield is well struck, sharp and crisply defined. EVERY LINE in the shield is separated and defined. This is a RARE feature. The outline to the cross is thick and bold, super nice. The veins in the leaves are also well defined and there is some mint luster! There a lot of die cracks too. The are located as follows: 1. At 4:00 on the Obverse coming directly out of the bottom of the lowest leaf. 2. At 7:00 on the Obverse coming out of the back bottom of the arrowhead towards the center. 3. Below "In God" running from the left and going through the leaves to the right. 4. To the top and right of the "E" in States on the Reverse. There are probably other die cracks but we felt this was enough... There is also evidence of some doubling of the main images on the Obverse but don't hold us to that!
