AMONG THE ALASKANS-JULIA McNAIR WRIGHT-Book Description: Philadelphia-Presbyterian Board of Publication-1883-First Edition. Good HC-no DJ-12vo. Lovely decorative Victorian boards. Blue with decorative stamping in black. Title and author stamped on spine in decorative gold gilt. Boards are in excellent condition in regards to no bumping, wear, etc. However, this is considerable spotting/soiling. Pale yellow endpapers. Interior of volume is perfectly tight, intact and unmarked-351 pages. Some foxing to endpapers. Volume features two maps and numerous woodcut illustrations from a tattooed Alaskan girl, to an Alaskan cremation to an Intuit grave to a Chief at Fort Yukon.Ricks p.262; Tourville 4973; Arctic Bibl. 19725. - "Brief sketch of mission work of the Russians, and account (in some detail) of the southeast Alaskan Protestant missions, 1877-83; with general notes on burial customs of Eskimos and Indians." Uncommon.
