1884 Mitchell's New General Atlas 147 maps and plans, Mitchell's New General Atlas Containing Maps of the Various Countries of the World Plans of Cities, etc. Embraced in Ninety-Three bright and colorful Quarto Maps forming a Series of One Hundred and Forty-seven beautiful Maps and Plans. Together with Valuable Statistical Tables. Also, a list of the United States and Territories, also a list of cities, towns' and villages, with their location. A list of all the new post-offices established since the compilation of the reference table up to January 1880. The population of the united states by the census of 1880. Also a table of the population of the United States and Territories of 1870 and 1880. A table of distances. A list of principal Rivers and Lakes of the World. A list of mountains of the world and rivers. A list of offices in the dominion of Canada, and a official Census of Canada-1871. The Atlas is 15 5/8" x 13" x 1 1/4" This ATLAS IS COMPLETE with all the MAPS, and in good condition.The spine has been professionally repaired with a leather finish along with the corners and edges as you can see from the pictures. There is age tanning, light staining, to pages (please see pictures.) Some of the pages have edge wear and some have 1/2" long closed cuts, 3 to 6 pages total 1 or 2 small cuts per page. The first 8 to 10 pages have edge cracks and a little brittleness to 1/8" of the paper edge. The title page has been repaired with some backing to support the original text. The front blank cover page is missing. The Map of Africa bottom left corner 2" x 1" corner repair that does not affect the map. All the MAPS are in GOOD CONDITION and could be framed. Text is clear and bright and complete. MAPS ARE GREAT LOOKING AND CLEAR WITH COLOR. There are more creative maps than earlier Mitchell's, with many crossing over the borders Original hand-colored maps that are bright and clean, pages bright. More, and going over the border of the atlas. This atlas has many more city maps published than earlier Mitchell's, and is mostly focused on the U.S., with a small international section.
