This is an original antique 1885 railroad timetable for the Great Rock Island Line Route service between Chicago and Illinois that was given out as a souvenir to Raymond California Excursionists. This timetable is an eight page pamphlet including the card stock covers measuring about 7? x 4.5?. The front cover is titled:This Souvenir Time Table Is Presented To The Raymond California Excursionist ? With The Compliments Of The General Ticket and Passenger Agent of The Great Rock Island RouteThis pamphlet has a timetable for The Great Rock Island Route service from Chicago to Kansas City and the text suggests that travelers departed their service there for California. This pamphlet also has some prose titled The Fate of a Mugwump which I believe makes reference to the 1884 United States Presidential election where the term Mugwamp was popularized. Also included is some text about the Raymond & Whitcomb Excursion to California state this was the company?s fifth season which also places this to 1885 since their first excursion was in 1880.This pamphlet also has advertising for the Colfax Mineral Springs and the Albert Lea Route and a small map on the back cover titled Map Of The Great Rock Island and Albert Lea Routes .
