These two large cabinet views form a ca. 1885 panoramic photograph of Harper's Ferry, West Virginia. Each card, including its mount, measures 8 1/2 inches wide. They are identified on the reverses as Harpers Ferry, looking up the Shenandoah from Maryland Heights and Harpers Ferry looking up the Potomac from Maryland Heights . No other information is given. One of the backs has a bit of staining and soiling. Please see the photographs, which can be enlarged. I think these date to about 1885. I found a 1912 panorama that had trees that do not appear in my photographs. The US armory w firearms were made, and that was destroyed at the begining of the Civil War, was located in the long empty section of land between the river and the town. The arsenal w the weapons were stored was destroyed when the railroad embankment at the left edge of town was constructed. The much-travelled fire engine house w John Brown was captured was also in this area, but has now been re-erected close by. Although they are not very sharp, a train can be seen approaching the bridge, while another has just about finished crossing it. This is guaranteed to be as described and pictured and is returnable within 3 days if it is not. Please email any questions, and see the terms of sale below. Postage is at cost. Customs forms will be accurate. Good Luck !
