Nice Old Original Color Map done in 1886 titled on lower center margin, "Map of Martha's Vineyard. Showing the Surface Geology by N.S. Shaler". Labeled on the top left hand margin is, " U.S. Geological Survey", and to the far right, " Seventh Annual Report PL XXI". Labeled on the lower right hand margin is, " T. Sinclair & Son, Lith Phila.". The size of the map is 8 1/2" by 11 1/2". (Please see photos for condition and exact detail). Note-Care MUST be taken when you handle this map due to the age of the paper. The image is sharp and clear, showing amazing detail of this area at the time. The map shows: (1) Vineyard Sound (2) East Chop Light (3) Cedar Tree Neck (4) Wasque Shoal (5) Edgartown (6) No Man's Land (7) Middle Ground (8) Cape Poge Bay, and much more of this area in Massachusetts. Please see all photos. This map would look great framed and on the wall or added to a collection, a very nice Rare and Collectable map!
