Age: 1888 Style: Limoge Era: Art Nouveau Mater: Porcelain Maker: Artus Van Briggle For Rookwood Origin: Ohio Condition: In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Other 2 specs on the back side which I think are in the glaze from firing. Please see pictures for details. Measurements: 5-1/4" tall by 5" at its widest by. Signature/Hallmark/Hallmarked: Signed with the rookwood RP and 2 flames for 1888, also A.V.B. for Artus Van Briggle. Details: Outstanding hand painted floral pot, urn, or jar. It was designed and painted by Artus Van Briggle who worked for Rookwood pottery in Cincinatti from 1886 - 1899, when he opened nonother than the famous and longest running American pottery company still running today. Van Briggle Pottery. He ran that business from Van Briggle Pottery 1899 - 1904 when he passed away and his wife Anne Van Briggle who also worked for Rookwood took over. This piece is imaculate no damage or repairs. Wonderful hand painted flowers and leaves. With a gold flake around the rim and of the pot and the lid. The lid is double sided both the same other than one side has a smooth edge while the other has a ruffled or pie crust type edge. Both sides are decorated for use either way. The bottom signed with what was mensioned above and also a sticker I'm asuming from a distributer which I can only read E over B initals and E something Bros. and Something else probably the ciry it was based in but unreadable. Never seen anything like that before. Don't miss this or the Geese Paperweigth I am also selling by Rookwood. T uis a very minor Reserve compaired ot the value of this piece. So don't give up.
