1888 BRIDGE BOOK BY HERMAN K. VEDDER Presented for your consideration is this one of a kind book with blue sepia tone photos of bridges from 1888. This book was put together and privately owned from the library of HERMAN VEDDER, a professor of Mathematics and Civil Engineering. Vedder played a large role in implementing the Department of Civil Engineering at Michigan State University and also promoting a new Engineering Hall among other things. The book contains an index along with over 130 photos of bridges, most of them taken while under construction. The contents partially include suspension bridges, deck bridges (stone arches), viaducts, deck bridges-parallel chords, iron arch bridges, and general views. The views are from bridges from all over the world. Great images! The pages are hand numbered with other hand written notes. One page is also signed by Vedder. The book is hardbound although it is loose at the end and might have had a cover page which is now missing. The pages are in good condition and the book measures 11 1/2" x 8 1/4".
