Aside from its historic and literary value, this book is a beautiful object. Published by Grosset and Dunlap in 1889, the dark green hardbound cover is decorated with an Arts & Crafts floral motif in lighter green, black, and red. This decoration, the title, and the name of R.D. Blackmore, the author are embossed into the cover. The entire book has scores of engravings by Harper Pennington, G.E. Graves, and other fine illustrators of the time. It measures 8" by 5 1/2" and has 703 pages. Pages 3-12 have a small stain in the margin; the rest of the book is clean as the day it was printed. The binding is intact and t are no chips or flakes.T is no reserve price in this auction. Also, I have a full refund poilicy, so you may bid with confidence.
