1890 1910 German Christmas Candy Gift Box Ornament for Feather Tree. A early scrap figure on the cover, makes this box to an extraordinarily beautiful ornament for your 1900 century Christmas tree. Many small hollow glass balls and a wonderful border out of Tinsel make this packaging for a Christmas treat or gift to someone special. Very well receive. Without damages. Very rarely in this form preserved incredible well for it's age. Market day was Saturday and traditionally the women brought ornament boxes and sacks in baskets by train to Sonneberg which was the central depot for both ornaments and toys. Ornaments became more elaborate as time passed, both in design and trim. Embellishments included the use of silk thread, chenille, tinsel, wool-thread, swags, tassels and crinkly wire.
