Extremely rare find! 1890-1910 Salesman's "Sample" **Mannequin Doll** I HATE to sell this doll, but circumstances force me to sell most of my 500-doll collection. This is one of my most prized items! This elegant and completely anatomically correct woman of yesteryear has no legs, as her "base" is hand-hewn wood, covered with a mesh-type wire on top of which is very old newspaper (see photo) then covered with muslin. This technique goes to her waist. Her torso appears to be wood covered with paper mache' or something (soft) similar? Her head is hand-formed from a Plaster of Paris type material and hand painted. One of the things I love most about this doll/model is her exacting figure and pose...beside the realism and quality of her creation! HER AMENITIES INCLUDE: TOTALLY hand made and hand sewn 28" tall HUMAN HAIR Wool worsted dress & jacket w/black & red velvet trim at collar, cuffs, and skirt. Petticoat of cotton trimmed with black ruffle. Blouse of BAVARIAN ecru lace front with ecru SILK back and sleeves. Genuine MINK shawl trimmed at edges with tiny black beads and clear CRYSTALS. She has a diamond black jewel on her waistband of black velvet; a long EBONY necklace that appears genuine, and a Cameo at her throat. Her hat is ecru taffeta-type cloth, trimmed with a red velvet ribbon and black Emu feathers. Her purse is hand crocheted, draw-string style of golden thread. The fantastic and delicate hands are soft kid-glove SUEDE. The only aging shows in: A minuscule chip on her nose and left side of her neck (could be repaired if you so desired...but I wouldn't); A few tiny moth holes in her dress, the largest (which is the only one that shows) is behind her lowered hand (see photo)...the others have to be looked for. Her clothes are removable for further inspection, but because of her age I refuse to do so. I have given a complete account of her shortcomings' and my pictures do the rest. LOOK AT THE COMPARISON TO THE PHOTO OF MY GRANDMOTHER to the right! Shipping of $15.00 to be paid by winning bidder with INSURANCE mandatory and dependant on final selling price. I prefer PayPal, but also accept money orders and cashiers check, all of which afford immediate shipping. Personal checks are also welcome, with shipping upon checks bank clearance . EXCEPT FOR CANADA, I DO NOT SHIP OUTSIDE THE U.S.A. WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL/ARRANGEMENTS BEFORE YOUR FIRST BID...no exceptions . All FOREIGN SHIPPING extra costs, fees, Duties, etc are the responsibility of, and paid by buyer. I obey ALL U.S. Foreign shipping regulations with no exceptions.
