This is a Splendid Vintage set of forks and knives. T are 6 table knives and 6 matching forks. T is also a smaller butter knife that is probably not original to this set? The six table knives are all marked "1890 Jennings Bros. 12" on the flat part of their blades and also marked "Sterling" on the decortive bands that separate the blades from the mother of pearl handles. The forks are all marked on their bands "Sterling" and have no other marks. The 6 knives and 6 forks fit perfectly in the silk lined maple case that is included. The butter knife looks very similar and is a nice compliment to this set. It appears to say "Meridan Cutlery Co. 1856" on the blade but I could have a letter or two or a number wrong. This etching is kind of weak. The mother of pearl handle is very similar to the other pieces. The silver band on this one is not marked Sterling. It looks like sterling but the pattern is different than the knives and forks. Knives are 8-3/4" long. Forks are 7-1/4" long. I am not an expert on Flatware. I believe the knife blades are probably silverplate and the bolsters are sterling silver. I believe the bolsters on the forks are Sterling but I am not sure about the fork part itself? I believe I can see a few spots on the knives w the probably silverplate reveals the base metal but I see no such blemishes on the forks. No
