Up for auction we have a gorgeous antique german scale in a composite metal with brass finish. This piece depicts an adorable cherub standing on a 4-footed pedastal base. Above the cherub's head t is a crystal piece cut into a diamond shape, surrounded by leaves which hold beautiful hanging glass crystals. Hanging from each side of the scale is a very detailed cut glass plate in the buzz star pattern. Piece has its original sticker on one of the plates in German. Under three of the four feet t is a star in the metal, and the fourth foot has the number 5701 under it. Piece measures 22" high x 18" wide. This piece is in nearly new condition with no damage to the finish, glass pieces, hanging crystals, etc. Scale is still in perfect working order. One of the leaves that holds the crystals did at one pint break off in the middle and has been repaired (shown), but it is at the back of the piece and still holds its crystal up just fine. I do not have any info on the maker, but judging by the style, this piece was most likely made in the late 1800's or very early 1900's during the art nuveau movement. This is a neat piece and a rare find in such a lovingly cared for condition! Would make a great gift or cherished addition to your home this Christmas.
