This Trunk Has Been in the Same family for over 80+ years and has been untouched in the attic of this home for 70+ years!!! This Is a Truly Beautiful Trunk Completely Intact and All Original from Brass Nails to the Tray inside!!!! This trunk has never been cleaned or restored in any way!!!!! You Can Tell the Amazing Workmanship put into making this Hand Crafted Marvel. Everything seems to have been hand done by a perfectionist type of individual because of how much care and thought was put in to every little detail. For instance, the part of the lock and securing latch pieces where you use your fingers to pull open and shut have been shaved down to fit the perfect shape of your fingers for maximum comfort. * Some other details include the complex hardware, spring systems, and lock this true steamer trunk boasts. Beautiful Patina. Also this Trunk is Large, with Enough Room For Everything, and Yet the Convenient Size of 35"L 20"D. Can Easily Go Along With You Anywhere On Your Travels. Pack Everything You Need Easily in This One Gorgeous Trunk. Travel In Style. Anyone and Everyone Will Compliment and Comment on You and Your Piece, Always. The wood all around is as completely Solid and as Strong as the very day it was hand assembled. Every solid Brass Nail, Handle, Caches, And Lock is made to last forever on this Trunk it seems because time has affected it so little all these years. The interior of the Trunk is Unaffected by any weather and is Fine and Clean minus a stain. The Tray Is Completely Clean and Fine and the Compartments are in Impeccable Shape and Very Convenient in Size and Shape. DETAILED PICTURES ABOVE!!! The Smell inside the Trunk is AMAZING . I wasn't Around in the Late 1800's, not even close but its Super Weird, when I Open this Trunk and the smell hits my nose I Automatically feel like I Am in 1890. Serious, this scent is entirely new to me but i know its the smell of the Old World. It Sounds Crazy but The New Lucky Owner Will Understand Instantly. Its one of those things never to be found anywhere else in the world unless preserved airtight from the late 1800's. Honestly can't really describe it. Continuing sorry.... Some of the leather trim is cracked and needs re hydrating and a few ribbon pieces are missing. These are the only things "wrong" with this Beautiful Trunk. Also i do not have the key but the Lock is open. Lock has the number T11O its seems. The only other things i was able to find on the Trunk was the small initials S.J. on a front piece on the trunk and The Patent date of May 3, 1887 on the Sophisticated Brass Hardware behind the Trunk that holds it open. I did not find LV on any nails or Louis Vuitton anywhere on the Trunk so this is Not a Louis Vuitton Brand trunk. This Trunk for sale was made by one of Louis Vuitton's competitors at the time. He was still living when these pieces were made and was still building up his Empire. Thanks to a knowledgeable customer i now know that there were many prominent and aspiring trunk makers like LV but his Major rise to fame came from his flat top trunks. Popular trunks before had camel hump tops and were difficult to secure when traveling but with the introduction of flat top trunks, things got a lot easier and m...
