This original brass sign is from the "Milwaukee Brewery, Melsheimer Mack & Co. Proptrs." It was finely hand etched & engraved by Gustav A. Seibel in the late 1890's when the Max Melsheimer & John Mack partnership held the Milwaukee Brewery at 223 Larimer Street, Denver, Colorado from 1895 to 1900. Previous to that, it was Melsheimer & Co., 1879 - 1888; Milwaukee & Melsheimer, 1888 - 1895. [In 1900, John Good took it over & ran it under the name of the Tivoli Brewery. The building still stands as a downtown Denver landmark & houses the original copper kettles of those early breweries. It is used as the Student Union Complex of the Auraria Campus' of Metropolitan State College & the University of Colorado at Denver.] The sign reads "Manufactured by Gustav A. Seibel, Proptr Colo. Sheet Metal Works Denver" around the triangular crest of the brewery. Note the incredible deep details & beautiful cursive lettering. Seibel signed it at the bottom with a symbol of a "mug B II noch Zwei". The sign measures, overall, 10-1/8" h x 14" w & weighs about 2 pounds. It is curved & arcs out about 3/4". Most of the red enameled inset around the Brewery's logo has chipped off. T is minor surface corrosion & staining on the back. T are no tears, weak spots or repairs. Please feel free to ask questions. Combined s & h for multiple purchases.Quick careful shipping! Check out my other items !
