Double your traffic. This undated American edition of SLOVENLY PETER is a translation of the German classic STRUWWELPETER . It looks like late 19th century to me (ca. 1880-1910 by binding, paper/type style). The pictures are classic, bold and in color about nasty things that happen to nasty children. The stories are told in verse are all about children who range from merely bad to very very very bad and the very very very bad things that happen to them as a result of their naughty ways. These stories were read to me as a child as an example of what became of children who did not behave properly (i.e. they get blown to bits by armed rabbits and worse). The book has an appealing antique decorative binding with black silhouetted figures of children at games, falling down, being chewed on by a dog + embossed pattern and lots of gilt in all loaded on slightly faded brownish red cloth. This is a hard cover book, it measures about 10 x 8", pages not numbered, my guess about a hundred total with many many color pictures.Title in English SLOVENLY PETER OR CHEERFUL STORIES AND FUNNY PICTURES FOR GOOD LITTLE FOLKS, ILLUSTRATIONS COLORED BY HAND AFTER THE ORIGINAL STYLE, Philadelphia, The John C.
