In this auction I have an antique 1880's-1900's Victorian red work pillow cover. It's the wide 2-pillow cover type popular for showcasing company best embroidery work. Featured in the redwork images are two Very Victorian twig frames with the message,
"EARLY TO BED, EARLY TO RISE" For those not familiar with the rest of this commonsensical proverb, it's: "Makes a Man Happy, Healthy, Wealthy and Wise." The width is 62 inches wide which would span the width of an old double size bed. I bought this linen piece in 1969 with the intention of repairing a tear with iron-on tape on the backside which I'm including for the buyer. I'll also enclose enough 1950's BIZ for the buyer to safely soak out the age related tanning/foxing of the linen. A little TLC will bring back the beauty and loveliness of this excellent example. Email me with any questions. If you look at the photo above, lower right hand corner you can see the old iron-on tape repair. The ancient tape has come off on back. So I'll send the repair tape I prepared for this repair with instructions for the winner. The stitchery is wondrous!
