You are bidding on a neat old item which I think is an early form of traveler's checks. The two Circular Letters of Credit were found in the old Travelers Information wallet. Wallet is dated 1892. The earlier letter is dated October 14, 1892 London for Martha Lee and Alice Lee for One Thousand pounds sterling. The second letter is dated January 3, 1893, Philadelphia for Samuel Lee and for same amount. That seems like a lot of money for the time. Each document has 4 pages. First is the letter of credit. Second page is the Ledger for the draws taken. Third page continues the ledger and lists where the banks are located in Europe. Last page continues list of banks for Europe, Asia, and Africa. The main page is blue and some of the signatures are signed in brown ink. The wallet is in fair to poor condition but was the place where the documents were found. The documents themselves are in pretty good shape considering the age....120 years......not sure who the "Lee" family was but must of had some wealth.
