The California Midwinter International Exposition of 1894, commonly referred to as the "Midwinter Exposition" or the "Midwinter Fair", was a World's Fair that operated for six months in San Francisco 's Golden Gate Park . Its most enduring legacies are the M.H. de Young Memorial Museum (which has since been rebuilt in a much different design) and the Park's famed Japanese Tea Garden .Souvenirs from the Midwinter Fair are quite rare. Not only did the fair take place almost 110 years ago, but in 1906 the great earthquake and file destroyed much of San Francisco, including who knows how many souvenirs from this fair.
