1896-S $5 MS62 PCGS. CAC. A moderate mintage of 155,400 half eagles was accomplished at the San Francisco Mint in 1896. The issue was circulated heavily, and few Mint State examples have survived. The present coin is a boldly detailed MS62 specimen, with lustrous orange-gold surfaces. Population: 13 in 62, 13 finer (3/11).
