This is a cast iron Sweeney No. 6 polishing iron * Patented NOV. 17 96 by Mary Sweeney of Allegheny, Pennsylvania * Made by Baird & Co, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania * Measures 8-3/8" long by 2-3/4" wide * Weighs 6 pounds 5.5 ounces * The No. 4 model of this iron is pictured in David Irons book Irons By Irons , pg 87, plate 265R and in Esther S. Berney's book A Collectors Guide To Pressing Irons and Trivets, pg 100, plate 214A. * T is very light pitting on the bottom and much of the nickel plating is gone, but otherwise this rare iron is in excellent condition and worthy of a prominent place in any serious collection of antique irons * T is NO RESERVE! * T is NO HANDLING CHARGE ! * We accept Paypal.
