Rare antique advertising stoneware jug, 1 gallon size in excellent condition for 111 years old. It is marked in cobolt blue letters, I beleive it says PAT. NOV 3 1897. A.J. WEEKS. AKRON, OHIO. This is a very unusual style jug, with the spout off center and the interesting type of handle. It is also embossed on the bottom but hard to read, says MFG BY A. J. WEEKS AKRON, OHIO. I am told this jug was used in saloons to hold whiskey, and could have a value of around 300.00. The only thing i can see on this beautiful crock jug is a couple of small chips, no cracks, or repairs, see photos for more details. What a great collectors jug, measures 10" tall x 7 1/4" wide and weights 7 lbs not packaged. The outside is a salt glazed finish with a high shine and the inside is finished in a chocolate Albany Slip Glaze. A. J. WEEKS started to produce stoneware in 1891, the buyer of this jug will have made a good investment. This is a very old jug and could tell a lot of stores if it could talk, good luck on getting a piece of historical American history. International buyers please ask about shipping cost.
