If my information is correct this auction is for what I believe to be a PAIR OF LATE 1898 TO 1902 ERA BLACK US CAVALRY SADDLEBAGS. Saddlebags are done in the rearer BLACK compared to the commonly found and seen Russet (BROWN) which was supposedly mandated as the standard color starting around 1902. NOTE: Bags when found w covered in years of dirt, grime, and even white barn paint splattered on them and w about as dry and hard as the barn board beam they w hanging from. After several good cleanings and washings with a product called (LEATHER NEW -CLEANER & CONDITIONER) the Saddlebags are once again in a next to revitalized simi soft and flexible condition and useable again. T are areas showing age cracking to surface but all parts are fully intact without any of the straps or metal hardware missing as is so commonly found on saddlebags from these eras. I have given this set of saddlebags a thorough inspection and was unable to find any types of inspector or manufacture markings making this set possibly a rare and unique find. If your a collector of this type of memorabilia than best place your bid early and not let this set get away! $16.95 s/h for lower 48 US.
