1898 BROOKLYN ROWING CLUB SILVER MEDAL 6 Oared Barge This auction is for an antique silver medal that was awarded in 1898 to a 6 Oared Barge by the Brooklyn Rowing Club in New York. This may have been one sculling event in a larger regatta. The medal once had a ribbon but the hole at the top of the medal was too close to the edge and did not leave enough silver for strength. The diameter is 1” and there is a blue & white enameled BROOKLYN pennant in the center. The back is engraved 6 OARED BARGE 1898 and marked STERLING and hs a maker’s name that looks like Robert Stoll. The overall condition is Good to VG due to the dangle having come free from the hanging loop, enamel loss on the pennant (see photo detail), and light wear. See my other auctions.
