Up for bids is a Spanish American War badge given to a Fond du Lac, Wisconsin soldier by the name of Capt. AD. Trier.. The badge has a red, yellow, and blue ribbon attached to a pin at the top. T is a 1 1/4" disc hanging from the ribbon. The disc piece says "WAR WITH SPAIN 1898"and has a building that looks like a gatehouse in the center. The back of the disc says UNITED STATES ARMY FOR SERVICE with an eagle in the center. T is No.5005 engraved on the edge. This piece has a bronze color to it. The badge is 2 1/2" long and 1 1/4" wide. It is in very good condition with some soiling to the ribbon. The ribbon has been pinned to a card, and has a typed piece of paper with it which says #6807 SPAN-AMERICAN WAR MEDAL 1898 PRESENTED TO CAPT. AD. This was in a collection. The person who amassed this collection must have known or researched the recipient of this medal and identified him as AD. Trier, Capt. I will be listing more items from this collection so please watch my listings. I will be doing 10 day listings on these things. I will ship First Class for 2.00. I am always happy to combine shipping. Thanks for viewing and please bid!! I have additional information to add to this listing thanks to a helpful ebayer. AD. Trier's full name was Adolph M. Trier and he was a Corporal in the 2nd Wisconsin, Company E (from Fond du Lac) during the Spanish American War. They fought in Puerto Rico. Thanks to him for the information!! I have just received the message posted below from someone who informs me that this medal was issued to William F. Papke who was a Qmaster with Co.F of the 2nd Inf of Wisconsin, and that Adolph Trier was awarded another medal. I am not going to end this listing but will not hold the buyer to the sale if they do not see this and do not want the medal. Also, anyone who wants to retract their bid for this reason is welcome to. Sorry for the error, I have been going by the identification given by the original collector.
