THE COMMON POMPANO FISHINCREASINGLY SCARCE ORIGINAL 1899 BIEN CHROMOLITHOGRAPHThis antique color 19th Century color lithograph is beautifully detailed, bright, colorful and OLD!!The government reports that these unique items come from were very limited in publication, and are sought by interior decorators and homeowners, making them increasingly difficult to come by in the market place. Each plate has the plate number in top right corner, name of artist on bottom left, name of printer on bottom right corner, and name of fish under fish. This single-sided plate (with no text on the verso) is printed on heavy paper which measures approximately 10.5" 7.5". The plate shows some age-related toning typical of plates this old adding a nice patina. This plate is in excellent condition (please see photos for specific condition of print.Coming from a very rare 125+ year-old book, The Bulletin of the United States Fish Commission 1900, Investigations of the Aquatic Resources and Fisheries by the United States Fish Commission Steamer Fish Hawk in 1899.
