This antique IMPERIAL SYMPHONION music box is 11 3/4-inches wide, 7 1/2-inches high and 9 7/8-inches deep. The cabinet is a rich, dark hardwood of attractive tongue and groove construction. The comb spring wound mechanism is in original condition and produces beautiful music. T is an automatic stop-start switch -- the disk will play one turn and then automatically stop. On the inside of the lid is a 1898 lithographic print featuring small children enjoying music. A metal tag shows a list of US Patents dating from 1886 to 1899. The brass mechanism plate includes the stamped words "SYMPHONION 14182". The comb is completely intact with no teeth missing and the entire mechanism functions well. The wood cabinet is also in excellent condition, including the hinges and fancy closure (please see all the photographs). This beautiful piece will be a wonderful acquisition for a collector of antique music boxes.
This instrument comes with 24 original 7 1/2-inch diameter SYMPHONION metal disks, all with very interesting titles. This incredible music box is offered with NO RESERVE. To see a complete list of our other items for sale, please click
