One of a collection of Revolutionary War period 18th ~ 20th Century spectacles ~ some 14K gold ~ from the estate of two generations of opticians that I'll be listing over the next couple of weeks!RARE SIGNED Federal period c1795 spectacles, with sliding temples extensions and DOUBLE LENSES! This style of double lenses was developed by Dr. Richardson, a London optician, in 1795 ~ this pair is signed BARBER and signed examples are rare! Most pairs of this period had no makers mark ~ many makers copied English goods around the time of the American Revolution, which was against British law. For this reason most such frames are not signed! These frames are in excellent condition with all lenses intact. All four lenses are in fine shape with no chips or cracks. The sliding temple extensions working easily. This pair was photographed with a standard 12 inch ruler for size reference. I am always happy to combine shipping so please see my other listings.
