NO RESERVE Beautiful 1800ish French slipper...single blade, spring loaded lancet/scarcificator and leather case.I haven't seen another. It will make an excellent addition to your collection. It is in very good condition and works properly. The spring is tight. Cock the trigger. Push the button and the blade whizzes by. You can hardly see it go past. T is an ornate flower motif around the screw at the top of the piece. The case is leather with a great patina. T are golden bands at the top and bottom of the case and also around the center of the case. The body is in very fine condition. I think it is made of some silver alloy. T are no silver marks or the name of the maker. The piece measures 2"x 3/4"x 1/4". the case measures 2 1/2"x 1 1/4"x5/8" If the final bid is over $500.00, the shipping is free. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. I was asked a some questions which in fairness should be answered I took a number more pics and ebay won't seem to let me up load them...email me at and I will send them to you. I will also try to upload again. They pics include a pic of the slipper in its case....the body of the slipper case unscrewed so you can see the workings...the blade extended from the case.... the halves of the case...8 or 9 in all. The does blade go back into the case after the trigger has been pulled. In 30 plus years, I have never opened the case until today. Occasionally, I have oiled the piece so it won't rust. When I opened the case, the workings seem original to me, but I have never seen a piece like this before. The workings look to be brass and steel. I saw no maker's name or any other markings. I believe the leather case to be original. The wear pattern of the paper pattern inside at least indicates the case and slipper seem to have been together for a long time. The "patina" of the leather is like that on your well worn wallet. The slipper is 2" high and the case is 2 1/8" high. T is little play when I shake the case with the slipper inside. The case is a dark brown shiny (patina)leather. T are age rub marks on all four sides w the leather is rough. It is two pieces. T are four golden bands around the case. Two on either half (top and bottom). The pattern of the bands seems like a "twisted chain". On the front of the case are two 8 point "suns"...one on either half. On the back are 2 smaller 5 point "suns". the purpose of these marks is to properly orient the halves so the case can be closed properly. The interior of the case is another leather with a "marble" pattern paper glued to it. About half of this paper is gone. I think the case very attractive. It was one of the reasons I bought the piece. Somehow the finish of the case says " I am elegant, classy, and very cool." It sounds crazy, but you will see... I spoke with a collector who feels this piece is unusual enough that it could easily go for between $1000&$2000. I have tried to answer all of your questions. If you have more, please let me know and I will do my best. Thank you again. Good luck bidding.
